Posted February 14, 2000 It's hard to believe precious Abigail, formerly known as "Bette," was abandoned as she was. She came to us in terrible shape -- filthy, matted, full of fleas, and quite overweight. But what a lovebug she proved to be, from the very beginning of her rescue. I don't know how these animals keep their spirits intact, but Abby is living proof of their resilience and gentle forgiving nature. Thanks to the TLC of her wonderful foster mother Abby really blossomed. A special lady fell in love with her at one of our Adoption Shows, and she has written us the following letter. I would also like to add that she returned to another adoption show where she adopted our sweet Lillian. Another wonderful happy ending. Please read about Abigail below. We [are] the proud parents of Abby (formerly Bette). Her presence has filled the huge hole in our hearts left by the death of our beloved Sandy (also a Cocker). I think you could tell when we saw her, and she saw us, that it was simply meant to be. Abby has adjusted very well to her new surroundings, including the three cats and her new job as Vice President of Stress Management at my office. She came to work with me the Monday after we got her, and no one would ever know she hadn't been here all her life. She is napping now, as I write, on her new doggie sofa beside my desk. (Every executive must have a sofa in her office). We don't know what misfortune brought this little gal to the pound and subsequently to you wonderful folks at Cocker Adoption Center, but we can assure you that her troubles are over. We wanted to take this opportunity to thank you and everyone associated with the rescue operation for your hard work and devotion in finding these great little creatures new homes. You have certainly made us and one little Cocker very happy. Fond regards. |
