Bailey, pictured on the right, is one happy boy today. But that was not
always the case. His former "family" got in touch with us because they had had a
new baby, and they did not "have time" for Bailey any longer.
We discovered, to our collective dismay, that Bailey was pretty much
living in a crate in the laundry room of their basement. They told us that Bailey could
wait ten to 12 hours to go out to do his business. Sickening. When one of our volunteers
picked him up to take him into rescue, they could not get him out of the house fast
enough. They never even looked back or said a proper goodbye.
It makes me sick and sad to see the abuse and neglect too many animal
suffer. Whenever we manage to liberate one like Bailey, I wonder how many more suffer
similar or worse fates on a daily basis. Too many. And we will never know about too many
of them. It's tragic.
At least we can try to be grateful for the lives we save and the dogs we
help. Bailey is very much loved and doted upon in his new home. He has a buddy named
Cricket to play with, and they are crazy about each other. Many thanks to his wonderful
new mother! |
