Died April 22, 2001 I think Buffy's sad story is best told in the words of her special rescuer in Texas. Please read on. You can tell Buffy's condition when she was rescued from the picture above. I sure wish we could have made life happier a lot longer for her. I lost Buffy this morning about 10:30 to massive heart failure. She was the little 13+ year old buff senior that was an OTI due to moving and was listed on Valerie Macys' site as "The Texas Cowgirl" Buffy had been on Lasix and Enalapril for congestive heart failure since we got her, as well as special vitamins in a half can of canned food daily. This morning she took her meds in her bite of hot dog and seemed no different than always. I left to go down to the corner to meet Ron as he was coming by the house for half a day en route to Laredo with a load. She was at the gate in the kitchen as I went out, along with everyone else. When I came back ten minutes later, she was lying dead in the kitchen right beside one of the food bowls with a mouthful of food spilling out of her mouth. Doc had warned me she probably had six months to one year to live, and she would just drop over of a heart attack, and that is obviously what happened. She was as happy as she could possibly be without the family who left her and had taken to wagging her little nubby all the time. I hope she is running free and playing at the Bridge now. I know she is missed. Ten minutes. It really makes you appreciate the fragility of life, doesn't it? You never know. |
