Posted December 12, 2000 It finally happened! Charlie, everyone's darling boy, has gone to his forever home. Charlie was once an URGENT posting on our website -- then with his buddy, Ben. They were both in need of a new home because Charlie was becoming increasingly intolerant of the advances of his family's 15-month-old baby. Ben was following his lead, and his owners were growing concerned. After much soul searching and many tears, they made the painful decision to separate the boys, and they turned Charlie over to us. I think everyone who witnessed the surrender of Charlie felt heartsick. Charlie's owners brought him to one of our adoption shows, and each of us struggled to watch them say goodbye. They recently wrote us and said they miss him terribly. Fortunately, and unlike many dogs of his age, Charlie handled the transition brilliantly. He likes everyone he meets and considers them his friends. This is evident in the picture above with his foster mother. Charlie is quite the kisser. He continued to do that as long as I took pictures, and he would have continued long after I stopped. I really thank his wonderful foster parents. They have been an incredible help to us, and Charlie thrived in their care. His picture and his story caught the interest of a very loving family. When they met Charlie, they knew he was meant to join them. We have seldom been happier with any placement. Charlie truly has a wonderful forever home. I hope his former family can rest easy knowing this. We do. |
