Blackjack's adoptive mother will be glad to see him finally make his debut as a happy ending. I apologize for the delay. This adorable little guy had a sad past. He was dumped by owners at a Maryland shelter in bad shape. His was far too thin, and his skin evidenced poor diet and serious neglect. His missing tooth from the middle bottom row of his mouth lead my vet to conclude that he had been hit or kicked in the face quite fiercely. Little else could have knocked a tooth out like that. Clearly, this poor boy has been abused. Jack used to flinch when someone approched him directly from the front. He even snapped when he was scared. I was quite worried that no one would want to work with him. But a special lady from Annapolis changed my worries to relief when she expressed specific concern for him and showed genuine sorrow over his unfortunate life. She took him into her home and her heart and has helped him to learn that there is goodness and love and trust in the world. Blackjack is a lucky, happy little guy now, and I cannot tell you how pleased that makes his rescuers. It gives us hope for other unfortunates. You can turn them around, and make life good for them for the first time and forever after. |
