You had to feel so sorry for poor Jitterbug. First, her beloved owner took sick with cancer and could no longer care for her. Then, his children began neglecting her. The stress and disregard resulted in serious hair loss and anxiety for Jitterbug. Soon, this "unwanted burden" was cast out, and she found her way into rescue. She had another chance, something too few animals ever get.

As sweet and adorable as she is, Jitterbug suffers from allergies and skin problems, and no one wanted to adopt her because of this. Dozens of people would inquire about her, as she is young and beautiful, but once they learned that she would take work, they quickly went away. It began to look like Jitterbug would live her entire life in foster care, watching scores of other dogs come and go, never feeling special to anyone. But then it happened. A wonderful man, one of our most loyal and dedicated supporters, decided that Jitterbug had been in foster care far too long. She needed a home of her own, and she certainly got one of the best ever.

Jitterbug's new father has called himself "an adopter of the last resort" -- and he is on the money when he says that. He adopted two very special old ladies, Sheila and Queenie, who went to Rainbow Bridge, in spite of his heroic efforts to save them, far too soon. He loved them and cared for them in ways they had never known.

Jitterbug is very fortunate to know this man's love and kindness. She will be safe and adored for the rest of her life, and that is the best gift any of our dogs could hope for. I just hope she is granted much more time with him than her sisters were. She deserves that much, and so does he.
