Puppy Love

Posted November 6, 2001

Precious Mynka was abandoned at a shelter for uncertain reasons. Her former owners said they didn't have enough room for her. I don't honestly know what to make of that. They also said that she was not friendly with their 12-year-old child, but they admitted that the kid was teasing and "kind of tormenting" Mynka.

The only thing we know for sure is that Mynka was in need of a loving home as soon as possible. She is such a precious little darling, and it was so obvious that she had been hurt in her previous life. In spite of this, she loves to be held and cuddled, and she will roll over for tummy rubs at the drop of a hat.

Mynka came to us in horrid condition, full of filth and mats, and she was deeply depressed. Take a look at her picture when we first got her.

It's hard to believe it's the same dog, isn't it? She further lucked out when a terrific foster took her into her home, and the best happy ending of all came when she was adopted by a very special couple who adopted Barney from us a few years ago. She has a wonderful life with them now, and they love her very much. They recently shared the following letter about her.

Thought I'd send a couple quick pics of the kids; I don't have any of Mynka in her trench coat yet, but I'll take some and send one to you.

The first pic is in our kitchen, with the dogs ready to enjoy "birthday
dinner" in honor of Barney's seventh birthday on August 24. It was all I could do to keep those hats on them long enough for Tom to snap the picture! (I'll share this one).

The second is on our couch -- the "usual" situation every afternoon -- long comfy naps on the couch by the window, so they can occasionally check on the squirrel situation outside. LOL.

Enjoy!
