This poor boy was facing a terrifying future after what was very likely an
awful past. He was living in a place where the people had too many dogs and were not
caring for any of them properly. Evidently, they learned that Animal Control was going to
come in and confiscate some of their dogs if they did not "get their numbers
down."
You might say that Stinger was one of victims, and that is very nearly
true. He could have ended up in even worse straits than he'd previously known if a rescuer
hadn't happened by a High's store and witnessed his owners trying to give him away to any
passerby. I shudder to think what would have happened to him if the wrong person had come
along. Shadows of all kinds of abuse haunt my imagination -- from Stinger's being used as
Pit Bull bait for illegal fighting rings -- to seeing him sold to a laboratory for
torturous research -- to much else. That is why placing a "Free to Good Home" ad
in any paper is terribly dangerous for any animal. Giving them away offers them no
protection whatsoever, and their fates are often sealed the minute they are taken.
Stinger was spared and is now safe with us. He is now a lucky boy, but
things could get much better for him. He is approximately five years old. He is an
adorable buff male American Cocker Spaniel who wants nothing more than to love and be
loved in return. He is neutered, fully vaccinated and on heartworm preventative. He loves
people, and he gets along with other dogs. This special little guy is a bundle of love.
Please open your hearts to him.
Stinger is fostering in Germantown, Maryland.
